"Vermilion traces"(2017)

Painted on a 100cmx80cm large wood panel with oils. The blood traces turn into white when heated(thermochromic paint).

On this painting you can see a girl kneeling on a frozen river. The bloody traces behind her symbolize her past sins, however the blood and ripped off petals on her hands represent the current sin she's living in.

This sinful guilt weighs heavy on her and threatens to break the ice beneath(meaning that time is running out to get right with God before death.) In the end, she regrets her ways and repents by asking God for forgiveness and He does so by washing her clean(see the red blood turn white)

Here are the related Bible verses:

-"Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."[Isaiah 1:18]

-"For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me."[Psalm 38:4]

"Rest forevermore"(2017)

Painted on a 100cmx100cm large wood panel with oils. It has also invisible color and particles that can only be seen under black light exposure.

The girl in the painting represents the christian in the midst of trial. She is falling backwards into darkness. Though it might seem like she’s lost, you can see(under black light)that God’s right hand is holding her save the whole time. The intention is to express that we can have rest in the midst of chaos, knowing that God is keeping us save.

Here are the related Bible verses:-“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me.”[Psalm 138:7]-“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”[Isaiah 41:10 ]

-“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.”[Psalm 37:23-24]

"Luscious value"(2016)

Painted on a 100cmx70cm large wood panel with acrylic paint. It has also invisible color that can only be seen under black light exposure.

The girl represents the christian including the plant that is wrapped around her. The bonsai is obviously way more beautiful than the plant and pot of the girl, but once the berries are revealed(under black light exposure), you can see that the bird is living off the fruit that the plant/christian is bearing, meaning: outter beauty is not that important but what’s beneath the surface has value.

The girl is only able to produce fruit while being in Christ Jesus which is symbolized here with her feet being rooted in the plant pot. Here are the related Bible verses:-" Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.”[John 15:16]-“ Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.”[John 15:4]-“ As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”[Colossians 2:6-7 ]-“ Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of agentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. “ [Peter 1:3-4]-also when Jesus cursed the fig tree that looked good outwardly but wasn’t bearing fruit[Mark 11:12-25]

"In sanguis veritas"(2020)

Oil painting done on a 24cmX30cm large panel. Blood drops are painted on the frame.

"In sanguis veritas" (lat. "There is truth in blood") was inspired by the following verse:

"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your vision is clear, your whole body will be full of light." [Matthew 6:22]

Eyelashes are supposed to protect our eyes, therefore the sanctifying blood of Jesus is covering them. (This painting is the counterpart of "Belladonna" & is part of the “Over the edge” series)

"Golden heave"(2016)

Painted on a 100cmx80cm large wood panel with acrylic paint. It has also invisible color paint that can only be seen under black light exposure.

"A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things."(Matthew 12:35).

The girl in the painting represents the Christian who brings forth the good out of her heart. She's holding the heart protectively in her arms(Proverbs 4:23)Furthermore, there are metaphorical Symbols displayed, that are inspired by the following Bible verses:-The God-given new heart(Ezekiel 36:26)-The flowing oil from the heart that symbolizes the anointing of the Holy Spirit(Luke 4:18),the dove that appears out of the girls' mouth, also standing for the Holy Spirit that works/speaks through the believer(Matthew 3:16; 10:20)-The pearl from Jesus' parable of "The pearl of great price"(Matthew 13:45-46)-The lilies as a symbol of beauty(Luke 12:27)-And the glowing/shining eyes, a sign of a Christian walking in the spirit(Luke 11:34)

"Father of Pearl"(2020)

Oil painting done on a 24cmX30cm large panel. artificial pearls are attached on the painting and frame.

The meaning of this piece leans on the biblical parable of "The pearl of great price", that no matter what we look like from the outside, we will always be of great value in God's eyes.

The girl might be missing limbs, an eye, an ear. She might be blind and deaf. She also might be missing confidence, hapiness, company in life...but from the inside she is beautiful(here seen by the mother of pearl).

Afterall we're naked in front of God, despite our status.

"Cognizance tonight"(2017)

Painted on a 100cmx80cm large wood panel with oils. It has also invisible color and particles that can only be seen under black light exposure.

The concept behind this piece is about spiritual blindness and the cognizance of the truth as soon as you get sighted(here visible under black light.)

The colorful stary night sky is meant to show the fullness of Gods' glory.

Here are the related Bible verses:

"Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."[John 3:3]

-"And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind."[John 9:39]

"To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."[Psalm 19:2]

"Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth."[Isaiah 40:26]

"Catharsis in blue"(2019)

Painting done on a 24cmX30cm large panel with oils . Artificial petals are attached to the frame to give the illusion of rose petals falling over the frame. The theme of this painting is one of the most personal ones I have ever created. It tells the story of my eating disorder recovery after struggling for years with it. The imagery is a parallel to bulimic behavior(the girl "throwing up" roses). Although there is nothing to be glamourised about this act, I have given it a subliminal meaning to it: The problem of the eating disorder(at least in my case) was rooted in the heart(see the roots underneath her skin coming from the heart). Once I addressed and faced this problem, I let it emerge to the surface to get it out(the roses coming out of her). Finally I was able to start recovery, which is a difficult(see thorns) but also beautiful process(here the beautiful roses). There was no better option, than to name this painting "catharsis", as it sums up the meaning. The reason it is "in blue" is beacause, as I have mentioned, it is a very difficult unpleasant moment to face problems and having to deal with them. Credits & thanks to Gabby, who let me use her looks as reference!moment to face a very deep problem that you have to deal with going forward into recovery. The shadow of the cage is not cast on her anymore, she's delivered. Credits go to Gabby/Recovery rose who I used for inspiraion reference for the looks.

"Belladonna"(2020)

Oil painting done on a 24cmX30cm large panel. The frame is painted partially over.

"But if your eyes are evil, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!"[Matthew 6:23]

As for the title, I chose to name it "Belladonna" since it seemed pretty fitting to me. Belladona(Atropa Belladonna) also known as the "Deadly nightshade", is a cherrylike fruit that was used by women during the renaissance era to enlarge their dark pupils simply as an ideal of beauty.

(This painting is the counterpart to "In sanguis veritas" & is part of the “Over the edge” series)

"Amend"(2018)

Painted on a 24cmX30cm large wood panel with oils. As for the meaning of this piece:

It's based on the story of Job from the Bible(who went through a lot of suffering) and how God sometimes needs to break us before making us better than before.

The idea came from this japanese tradition of "Kintsugi", where they break pottery on purpose just to repair it again with gold.

The result looks better than before and so I wanted to emphasize the positive outcome of our golden scars of life's hardship that form us into who we become.

"A garden inclosed"(2018)

Painted on a 40cmx40cm large wood panel with oils. The roses turn into white when heated(thermochromic paint) and smell like roses due to applied fragrance oil.

This piece is inspired solely on these Bible verses from "Song of Solomon"[4:9-12]:

9 Thou hast ravished my heart, my sister, my spouse; thou hast ravished my heart with one of thine eyes, with one chain of thy neck.10 How fair is thy love, my sister, my spouse! how much better is thy love than wine! and the smell of thine ointments than all spices!11 Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.12 A garden inclosed is my sister, my spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.

"13 inch along"(2020)

Oil painting done on a 24cmX30cm large panel. Artificial hair is attached to the painting and hanging out of the frame. The meaning is based on the following verse:

"Indeed, the hairs of your head are all counted. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows."[Luke 12:7].

So basically God cares so much for us, He knows every strain of hair we have on our head, knows every detail & aspect of our life.
